Faded Ground
31 March, 2006
Author: Catyrose
Watching you walk away
Tears spilled forth from these eyes
Falling as rain upon the lush green ground
We two had built our life upon
Rising before the break of dawn
Side by side we worked together
In the fields we planted and sowed
Seeds of love so long ago
One April morn' our love bore fruit
Holding her tiny hands in yours
Pure love shone from those hazel eyes
Tenderly stroking soft pink cheeks
A Daddy now and oh so pleased
Years flew by as they tend to do
No longer did your love ring true
Withering away on the vine
Hearts and minds no longer entwined
I bid you farewell on a crisp November day
As you turned and walked away
Down the path that once held two loving hearts
Till this day, I wonder
How can it be that we drifted so very far apart?
