The Exit Door
14 April, 2006
Author: Catyrose
Hollow eyes and sunken hopes
Tear-stains upon her pillow
Body trembling
Lips aquiver
Breaking down tonight
Vial of tiny white pills in hand
She contemplates her demise
Tunnel vision
Unable to make a clear-cut decision
She sees no other option
Splotches of color appear inside her brain
Voices screaming out her name
Over and over again the same old refrain
This is her grand escape
The exit door she ponders
Affecting those she leaves behind
Yet her life here has been far too unkind
Try as she might
She finds no peace in sight
No other solution
To all the confusion
Weighing heavy on her heart and mind
Placing tiny white pills upon her tongue
No other solution does she find
To still the voices within her troubled mind
------- Author's Notes -------
Some thoughts that came to mind as I try to understand how life must be for some of the clients I work with who suffer from schizophrenia and other forms of mental illness. |
