Isn't This The Time To Be Strong?

When your loved ones are in pain,
And you are far away and in vain,
Even when you are near, you can only wail,
Though it is the time to set sail,
But, isn't this also the time to be strong?
Spreading the message of optimism,
Each of these could be a test in life,
Shrieking and shrinking in grief,
Rejoices the evil and dark pessimism,
Shouldn't the mind control the heart?
'Take things easy' is easier to say,
'Give me a hard heart' is the way to pray,
Millions of emotions strain the brain,
To fight back the tears, no one can train,
But still, Can you be a little stronger?
As we pass through numerous days in life,
Little do we remember the uneventful hours,
And tend to forget the embarrassing gruels,
Left with nothing much the cherished and saddened,
Don't you realize, these made you happy and pragmatic?
Sit back, with tears rolling down your cheeks,
With pleasant thoughts revolving on your mind,
Living on those memories would not make you meek,
But mentally mightier to control things,
And that could be your precious find.
This is the time to be strong.
------- Author's Notes -------
My friend's dad is ailing and in coma while she is with me on another continent. She was terribly down.Though she had been by her side for a while, there was no change in him. Wrote this to make her feel better but I don't think it could cause any change in her. |

barb (67.58.201.151) -- Saturday, June 17 2006, 01:43 am At a time like this it;s so hard to know what to say. It's not your words that will help her, it's her knowing that you care about her feelings. So to me what you wrote is a caring gesture. |
Capricorn (82.36.128.180) -- Saturday, June 17 2006, 01:55 pm Barb is right, she is blessed to have you by her side. She really needs a friend at the moment and it was a caring gesture to write a poem to help her. Very nicely written |
