True Beauty

There she stood in the garden
feeling lifeless, and so alone.
Her delicate petals
slashed by bitter storms.

Her beauty was fading, and
no hope did she have for living.
She was waiting to wither away, and die.

There was a time this rose was
beautiful, full of life!
Her beauty was breathtaking,
but to many callous storms
left this little rose weak.

The sun drained her
confidence, and the rain
washed away her pride,
And the years left many
scars upon her lovely stem.

She stands there in the garden
recalling a time when she
held the world within her hands.

Weeping as people pass by
pointing, and laughing.
'Look at that repulsive rose
frail and broken.

But as I pass by this little rose
I do not see what they see
I see beauty!
True beauty only the
soul can see.

WOW ! what a Stemmin' Revelation..

Tammy , hunny this is such a lovely read, i was caught in a river of tears, beautiful tears...i believe each one belonged to the spirit of some whom have been there ,tears contain the spirits of many hurtin' and joyful souls ..so discriptive , you placed my mind into the fold of every rose petal that blooms and has to move on...to know that we are seen for what we are worth from the inside ,in the storms that try to knock us down, and havin' Angels like you make life so Precious to see us all from the inside out... this is amazingly such an insightful read . keep that heart flowin' within the love you spread !

What a lovely read. Lovely comparison. You're right. Beauty has so much depth. It goes beyond the outer surface. I love this one!

seriously

I would love to hear True Beauty as a song it's up there with "Concrete Angel" and the "Wings of an Angel" songs. Ask around how you go about someone putting your words to music.
