My Bartender
25 June, 2006
Author: Randi Jung
I slip in and out
of this
unrecognizable skin
Lost, empty
I try smiling
at those around me
a mask, plastic
My life is battery operated
no decision needed
no choices left
Run until you run out
I need a drink
My spirit is locked away
jail
a cell built by my own actions
I crave optimism
just once I want to hold a drink
half full
but lady luck
is never my bartender
