I Shall
16 July, 2006
Author: Marion Carroll
You fell out of the lie.
hurtling towards the ground, awakened
from a dream turned nightmare,
knocked off the cloud of illusion where
you placed your hopes
frightened, confused, grieving
the concrete loomed closer.
Surely, you would shatter and die.
But I was there to catch you,
and hold you
as your heaving chest
very nearly burst from the pain
of your fractured, beating heart,
so beaten and torn
your tears puddled in my hands
you bathed in them
to cover yourself fully
in your despair
while I just held you there.
Your wings are not clipped
only atrophied from lack of use
Your beauty has not faded
nor has your worth diminished
from the deception
You are safe here in my hands
as I hold you close to my heart
I share your painful loss
I know your grief and sorrow
I am your shelter
you only asked that I
wait with you
And I shall
Yes, I shall
into the blackness you must descend
but you will not be alone
it is not I who will leave
as you mend your wings and fly away
You asked that I stay
and I shall.
Oh, but I shall

Barb (67.58.208.33) -- Sunday, July 16 2006, 05:49 am I like this, yep we choose who we want in our life. Never thought of it before but true. |
MC (64.12.116.5) -- Sunday, July 16 2006, 04:55 pm I didn't write the words in the quote. That was sent to me by a friend, and I'm just letting that person know that I am here for them, through their personal ordeal. Friends don't let friends ever feel unloved or unappreciated. |
John F (81.101.29.91) -- Sunday, July 16 2006, 06:22 pm Mari, I do hope this friend will realise just how much you think of her and what she means to you. Excellent thoughts. |
