I'm Trying
24 October, 2003

It's hard these days, to take a breath
Without becoming saddened, and without ever crying
But dear God, you know I am trying

I'm holding on to a short rope,
While a million people are dying
I won't let go of this one last hope
Please God, understand that I am trying

From time to time, after sobs and cries
I look up to the sky,
And allow myself to dry my eyes
I find courage in knowing that you believe me
When I tell you that I am trying

Angel, a very touching work of......

Angel, a very touching work of art you have created here! I believe you have struck a universal chord with this poem. These are hard times to be a human being in, no doubt. These are feelings I feel, too. This writing has a realness to it that I was taken by immediately. To say I'm very, very proud of your poetry would be an understatement. You really are impressing me with your own style and expression! And, yes, poetic Angel, do hold on to that hope and know that God does know when we are trying. And he knows it's not easy! May you keep looking to him through the tears and laughter! This is another of your writings that will go deep to the center of my heart and remain there forever! Thank you for a beautiful suprise tonight! Love, Dad

I'll speak of you tonight, when I talk with my anchor

Angel Laney;

Very expressive and true to the world of life and for you to know these things, and be so young! I believe, we are all hanging on to a rope, some short, tied with man knots, some long, smooth and reaching high into the heavens. It is comforting to know that you are mature enough to see and as best you can understand so,many things. I guess my real point is, we are all attached to some form of rope and we need it as life can be a rough sea at times, but you know what? Its not the rope that saves, us, its the anchor at the other end. I think you have the only one that really works forever, Faith.

Also, you have dear old Dad, what a guy!

P.S.
Beautiful work!
