Am I A King

Does only a fool hold onto hope that dreams can yet come true
Just a fools hope that he might touch the stars he reaches for
To strive so hard for happiness on earth by aiming towards the heavens
To speak from his heart unhidden, all things that ever he desired to say
Am I then a king of fools, to have opened my heart to be in love with you

Is it wishful thinking to believe that love, if it be true, still conquers all
A child's wish that fairy tale endings are not found solely in books
To keep holding to the idea that nice guys don't always finish last
To wish that you belonged to me, rather that I might in time belong to you
Am I a king of wishful thinking for not giving up against all odds

Is a hopeless romantic one because he hopes though love seems lost
Refusing to let die the words and sonnets of poets long forgotten
Love blooms as a Rose, to the sweet songs of nightingales,
Dreamy eyed lovers hold each other and greet every morn with a kiss
Am I a Hopeless king, that you inspire with in me, romance and poetry

Can loving someone so much that it hurts, cause one to cry
And is the sorrow sweet, such that it aches to be near or far from them
And in holding them die to all thoughts of self, and live again in them
To never again be whole, save when their arms be wrapped about you
Am I a king of pain, that in choosing you, I choose to love like this

Am I A King

------- Author's Notes -------

If you are going to love, love completely, with all your heart, with all your passion and don't be afraid. :-)
