You And Me

Author: Catyrose
Time stood still the day you came into being
Eyes the color of the sea
Gazing ever so tenderly back at me
Fingers and toes all ten intact
Such a beautiful child you were back then
Closing my eyes I drift back to remembering when
Hair as black as coal
Skin of bright pink hue
An indication that you were brand new
Resting your sweet head upon my arm
Holding you close as close can be
Recalling the days of you and me
Hand in hand we’d walk along
Best of buds we vowed to be
Back in the day when you were three
Days turned to weeks
Months to years
I was there to wipe away each tear
Years they have come and gone
Life picks up its pace
And we move on along
I miss the closeness we once shared
I miss the little things that showed we cared
Yet now you’re grown as grown can be
I’ll carry on
Still missing the days when it was just
You And Me

Meridian (71.241.15.210) -- Wednesday, September 20 2006, 04:57 am You are so darn right Caty. I understand what you're saying. My family and I or I and my family, at times forget the importance of just having a good day, minus all the complications and complexities of this life that tends to do a good job of breaking us apart. Heartfelt poem! Truly heartfelt! You know why? Cause, my heart felt it! Good write Caty! |
