Love Like A Hurricane

Author: Miztrebor
Love is a hurricane,
Which disturbs every aspect of life.
In the beginning the winds pick up,
Your feelings flare up,
And your head is knocked around.
A flood of emotions builds up inside
As new feelings break the levees
Of a pool, once mostly empty.
Strange it should seem
To leave behind friends
As this storm takes hold of your conscience.
But they don’t matter now, only survival
As waves of happiness throw you about.
This is the beginning,
But not terrible of all.
Not too easy, and not the hardest fall.
Now comes the eye,
The eye of the storm.
The calm center of balance,
Inside a raging hurricane called Love.
Everything is safe-feeling,
And placid.
No worry, no need to be frightened.
You feel at peace with yourself
And the one you now share your heart with.
This may last long,
Or even a day,
But no matter how long,
It falls the same way.
After the eye,
Comes back the storm.
The flutter of emotions,
But they’re happy no more.
Frustration and anger
Have built up inside.
Those levees once full,
Fill even more with this tide.
Soon they break,
And all will come down,
But the storm is soon over,
And you can look around.
This storm is now gone,
You can feel better.
But as with any storm
There’s an aftermath.
You need to pick up your life,
And find a new way.
But don’t fully block out
Your thoughts of passed days.
Use them in the days of the future,
To make a new thing to last.
------- Author's Notes -------
My professor for my poetry class told us to ramble on about a comparison. A simile or metaphor or something. So i started writing a paper, then realized that i could just turn it into a poem as well. With a few new breaks, and spelling changes. Then i had another poem for you guys. enjoy. |
