Slow Down You Move To Fast
20 October, 2006
Author: Catyrose
Walking along the path today
I pondered why my dreams have all gone astray
Going through the motions of this journey called life
I often wonder why it is I am here
Wasting my life
Giving up the things I once held dear
I live in a whirlwind
Or so it would seem
Never taking time to smell the flowers
Working and studying into the wee small hours
At times I wonder why I set this course
Life speeds by as I try to keep up
I find myself locked in, existing as the years speed on by
I cannot help but wonder why
Lost in thought
I almost passed him by
A wrinkled old man
With a twinkle in his eye
Something caused me to slow my pace
I stopped for a moment
And gazed into his eyes
Ever so slowly his smile met mine
He said slow down child
Please walk with me
It’s time to calm the tempest
Don't you see?
We walked for awhile
Then he took my hand
The same language we did not speak
But the warmth of his hand
Spoke volumes, as his eyes gazed into mine
In silence we carried on
He pointed to the flowers here and there
A rainbow of colors caught my eye
I felt tears of happiness well up inside
His message was oh so clear
It' time to return to the life I once held dear

I thought working hard to pay my bills was what I had to do. now I learned that caring and loving and taking time to really see things is what matters, and I'm glad you wrote this to let others stop and think. perfect write, thank-you for sharing. |

You're so right when you say that there are far more important things in life than paying the bills. Besides the bills will always be there. But the precious things (like grandchildren who grow up so fast!) may not be if we don't find the time to pay attention to them. Thanks for your kind words. I appreciate them. |
