I have known many people in my time
Traveled from one ocean to the next
I have seen the sunrise over the rocky mountains
Seen the beauty of a new born babe as it cried
Witness the peace in my grandmother’s eyes when she died
I swam in the ocean and watched with joy the dolphins glide by
Held a blue-white diamond in my palm, as it glittered in the light
I have seen wild roses and lilies paint the mountain side
Smelled the freshness of pines and aspens as they danced in the wind
And even seen the sunset upon the snow that lit the eve with heavenly glow
But I have never known sunset to match the beauty of your eyes
Nor such joy as I find in your touch and in holding you
I have never known fear, yet I tremble in your presence
I bow to none, yet answer your every beck and call
Though you hold yourself of little value, for you I would give up all
I have never known a heart so lovely, so fragile, compassionate without flaw

Rick Ryckman (71.97.7.88) -- Friday, November 10 2006, 05:43 am The words paint a vision that you can see. And take you on a wide journey of love. I enjoyed the line about your grandmother. I thought it was very poignant. [ Sunset to match the beauty of her eyes. ] I am truly grateful that I have this kind of woman in my life - that you express in your writing. |
Ing Twi Demalah (159.105.102.7) -- Saturday, November 11 2006, 02:13 am I am glad that you can relate so to my poem. I try to write so that people can not only read, but experience the words. Congatulations on find such a woman. |
MC (152.163.100.5) -- Monday, November 13 2006, 04:16 am You didn't even need to say "I love you" at the end.....it was in every word of this poem. I hope that you are loved this much in return. |
Ing Twi Demalah (75.68.149.175) -- Monday, November 13 2006, 09:04 am I am touched that you felt this way, to say I love you, without saying I love you is what I was hoping for. I doubted my effectiveness at it. Thank you, seeing the intent of the heart rather than the words themselves. P.S. So do I :-) |
Barb (67.58.203.54) -- Tuesday, November 14 2006, 02:37 am I love writing like this, no sexual overtones just pure love. very nice thank-you for sharing. |
