Out Of Control by Barbara Goodhew

Told all my life
I caused alot of stress and strife.

Didn't listen to rules,
that I felt were unfair and cruel.

What people saw as a out of control child.
Was a way to tell people to help this child.

Not taking time to find out WHY.
Merely saying good bye. letting someone else
figure out the WHY.

Older now what they called uncontrollable
was a determined ambitious soul.

A grown-up now and HAPPY AND CONTENT with ME.

I was the "black" sheep in my family. I can really appreciate your words here, Barb. I especially love the line "...what they called "uncontrollable" was a determined ambitious soul. Spent alot of years trying to get family members to accept me for me. Now, that I am older most of the time I agree with the last line---Happy and content with me. You sound like a woman with a sense of integrity and someone to be admired. Too bad others couldn't or wouldn't comprehend that. Thanks for sharing.

i agree with caty here!! and admire your words!!!! spoken as true as it be.. some people dont like to accept what's not THEIR standards, or likings.. psh, i definately felt this one hit home.. thanks barbara!!!

To bad someone didn't take the time to find out about us. My best revenge on them was showing them I turned out a nice, compassionate person ,with some good in me. so there, family look at the out of control kid now. thanks again for the comments.

People should always try & find out why a child is out of control. There's always a reason behind it. Good poem Barb.
