Honesty
15 November, 2006
Author: Catyrose
As a young and trusting soul
I believed the lies that I was told
Wrapped in pretty papers
Festive colors held appeal
Tied with silver ribbons to dazzle the eye
Intended to beguile and mystify
A splendid disguise
concealing the contents lying deep inside
Eloquence so often pleases the ear
Flatters the receiver
For a season in time
Till the deliverer one day runs out of rhymes
As brown tresses turns to shades of gray
One begins to learn simple truths
Along the way
With the passage of time
It seems that words and actions must align
Syllables that lead to action
Leave lasting impressions
On this heart and mind
Simple words clothed in truth
I seek to find
Anything less
Is merely a waste
Of my precious time

Catyrose (128.123.85.206) -- Thursday, November 16 2006, 06:12 am Lately, I've been dealing with people at work who say all the right things, praise me to my face and then stab me in the back. I wrote this after making the decision that life is just too short for all the nonsense. Thanks for your comments. I really do learn a lot from the words you right. HONESTLY :) |

Meridian (205.188.117.65) -- Friday, November 17 2006, 07:13 pm Caty! Glad to see your return as well! I almost had to pause and grab a dictionary. I forgot the meaning of the words, eloquence and mystify. But now, as I type, my memory is working. Mystify means puzzling or mystery. I think. Anyway, deception is powerful and the words from the person expressing them, can get you so caught up. Only through honesty and trust, can a relationship strengthen.... Divine reflective poem C. Rose! |
