Parasites

I woke abruptly from peaceful sleep
The phone ringing off in the distance
Bolting up right out of bed
Thinking the worst
Who can this be?
Calling at one in the morning, disturbing me
Ms. Drama was on the other end
Pretending all the while to be my friend
I asked what’s wrong?
She said never mind
The manipulations were about to begin
Here we go again, my fair-weathered friend
It seems that if I don’t shell out
The dollars per each request
I’m not worthy of being your friend
This has become a costly and annoying trend
I have always been generous to a fault
But the coffers are nearly empty these days
And you still persist in your selfish ways
Lately we’ve had this conversation many a time
That I need to look out for myself
It is way past time
You lie and say It’s not money you seek
We should spend time drinking a cup of coffee
Watch a movie
Or merely hang out
You tell me that's what friendship is all about
Then why are you asking for a ten or a twenty?
Why do you test me at every turn?
It is time for you to learn to stand on your own two feet
I speak these words as a true friend
If you can’t accept this
Sadly what I believed to be a friendship
Will soon be coming to an end
------- Author's Notes -------
It hurts to lose someone you believed to be your friend. Someone once said the surest way to end a friendship was to loan a friend money. Well, I'm guilty of this far too many times. Guess I have only myself to blame for the mess I find myself in. |

She wouldn'y want to put you in that kind of situation if she really was a true friend. I heard once |"just because you can take advantage doesn't mean that you do''''''''''''''' good write about what to watch out for. |
