Through A Child's Eyes
25 December, 2006
Author: Catyrose
Her eyes shine brighter
Than the twinkling lights
Placed with care upon the Christmas tree
Into her stocking she begins to reach
The beginning of a priceless lesson
Only the innocent are able to teach
With each new trinket she holds in the palm of her hand
A look of absolute wonder is revealed on such a sweet face
Something we grown-ups often allow the years to erase
Everything is beautiful in a child’s eyes
Even the simplest things
Have the power to mesmerize
Words of gratitude spill effortlessly from her lips
As she runs into my arms
Hugging me tightly and bestowing a sweet and gentle kiss
Lost in the moment
Overcome with delight
Such warm and lasting memories
We have built here tonight

Bipedalguy (4.156.144.111) -- Tuesday, December 26 2006, 03:37 am How recent? Today. Almost makes me wish I had my own kids. Other peoples kids are good too. Especially today. The 3rd stanza helps me recall my own wonder about a little horse (molded from plastic) which was in my stocking about 60 years ago. I couldn't imagine what material this "plastic" could be. It's clear that it made a lasting impression on me. |
