The Last Dance
19 January, 2007
Author: Robert
Will you take this rose my darling,
And hold it tenderly?
Will you take my hand
One more time thru eternity?
Can I wrap my arms around you
So lovingly tonight?
Can we share our dreams
Of yesteryear?
Things came out all right.
Shall we share a glass of vintage wine?
One that’s just like we.
A little older, reserved,
A little blended be.
We walk up to the dance floor,
I take you in my arms.
Our eyes meet one another,
I’m enchanted by your charms.
We glide endlessly together,
As if no one’s around.
We talk to one another
But do not make a sound.
Can this go on forever?
Would I really even care?
When I wake up in the morning,
And find that you're not there.
There’s hope in all of this despair,
To surely see me thru.
For I have loved the very best,
The very best was you.
