Homesick
24 January, 2007
Author: Catyrose
Take me away from this barren land
Where nary a tree does grow
I long to see the seasons change
To taste the snowflakes on the tip of my tongue
Gentle reminders of the days when I was innocent and oh so young
Transport me to a space in time long ago
Where red, orange and yellow leaves
Swirled and twirled in the autumn breeze
Just the thought brings me to my knees
Bending to pluck a leaf or two in the early morning dew
Captivated by the colors, yes, each and every hue
I long for the hot and sultry summers
With music playing in the park
The scent of Vienna hot dogs, polish sausage and bratwurst too
Floating by in the moist Midwestern air
I can almost taste them on my tongue
As I reminisce about the times when life was simple and filled with so much fun
The time machine could drop me in the windy city in the midst of an April shower
When Mom was so excited as the first flowers began to bloom
This was a time when we were all carefree and life wasn’t full of gloom and doom
Yes, Life was simple way back then
Enjoying nature’s splendor
Side by side with family and the closest of friends
Back in the days of "I remember when"
------- Author's Notes -------
Feeling a little homesick for my hometown and family. Must have something to do with watching the football game this weekend. :) |

Bipedalguy (4.156.144.45) -- Thursday, January 25 2007, 01:29 am But this write is nothing short of Great. I long for the good old days, when times were tough. What I miss is my youth, and the mystery of the coming forever. In retrospect life seems like the blurred image of the inside of a tunnel viewed from a high speed train. Luckily, along the way, there were stops from which memories are made. I think I feel a Limerick coming on. |
Catyrose (128.123.85.206) -- Friday, January 26 2007, 09:33 am for your very kind comments. It always surprises me when I write something that I'm less than satisified with and I get such great feed back. Thanks again. |
