Hardened ice
remains on my windows -
stays stuck to the glass,
as if it is
a collage
that is glued on.

Am I hardened
in my speech,
in my actions,
or non-actions,
to my self,
to others,
like the eternal ice
that greets me
every early morning ??

I try to be soft -
empathetic -
a listener.
Daily struggles
give me strength.
Daily pleasures
balance the struggle
and ritual
and routine.

Do I have a hardened
and icy heart
from being with you
for so very long ??
Do I not take responsibility
for my solutions or
lack of them
in this drawn out situation ??

Early morning frost patterns -
a daily mandala -
inspiration and beauty -
Answers lie
within the etched designs -
within my heart.

I adore the light of dawn
sneaking through
my frosty reverie.
It envigorates and
adds an energy of brilliance
to this mornings beginning.

And I too,
begin to
soften my views -
without losing my self,
my values,
my creative direction.

Yes, the hardened icy drawings
are deeply engraved and
contemplation and
a meditative eye
gives me
the clarity
I need
as the ice melts
and takes
on new directions
and so do I.
