The Wastebasket And The Paper Bag

I bought a new wastebasket today.
When scanned and bagged, I then had to pay.
I, with basket in bag,
went home, then dropped the bag
in the basket. It's strange, I must say.

This one's a real knee slapper.
Sorry about the double use of the word "bag".
