The Man In My Dreams
16 February, 2007
Author: Tanean Schaller
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep…
I pray he brings you back to me, if only in my dreams.
For that is how I met you, at least that’s how it seems
The first time that I saw you, that sunny day last year
I heard the Lord speak softly, as he whispered in my ear.
He said:
“My child, this is not a dream, this man I give to you,
This man will be your comfort, you see, to hold you all the years through.
The sadness now is leaving; you shall smile once again,
I have given you a precious gift, a life long love, a friend.
Be gentle with his heart as his is fragile too.
Do unto him, with love and trust, as you would have done to you.
This precious gift of life, is for the two of you to share,
But remember, with love there is hard work and sometimes heavy loads to bare.
Now these loads may not be of your own, but that of your true love.
Have faith in what I have given you, that I will guide you from above,
Believe in the power of the gift of love, and of this you can be sure,
without my intervention, you would have never gotten this far.
So give him your heart and receive his too…and believe in me, this love is true.
Now carry on, and you will see, this gift of love is a gift from me.”
As I listened to our father, the sky was a new blue,
the sun felt a bit warmer as I began walking up to you.
