All I Ever Wanted
18 February, 2007
Author: Catyrose
All I ever wanted to do was love you
Why then do you hurl harsh words my way?
As if they were knives piercing this genteel heart
Out of nowhere the tirade begins
A stern tone
Voice raised
You spin me in circles round and round
And scream at me to stop
Stop what?
What is it I have done?
I grew an inch today
And my voice raised above its usual whisper
Was this my crime?
I opened my eyes just a tiny bit
To see reality
I heard the true meaning
Behind the words
And listened so very carefully
I felt my body tremble
My knees give way
As you cast sticks and stones at me in your usual ongoing reverie
I tasted the tears upon my tongue
They fell as torrents from the sky
As I choked on my sobs and refused to digest one more sad and sorry lie
