Blessed

Author: Catyrose
In the darkness of night
I felt the softest and gentlest touch
Tracing lightly across my brow
Words spoken in less than a whisper
Heard only by the heart
Leaving a lasting impression upon the soul
Raindrops trickling delicately outside the open window
A fresh clean scent pervades the atmosphere
The sash blows faintly against the pane
All at once the wind picks up
Lightning flashes in the night sky
Thunder crashes and rolls down from the heavens
The night is no longer still
Awakening from the most peaceful sleep
I see his face for an instant
He is surrounded by light
I reach out to touch his cheek
To wipe away the tears raining down
My fingers touch the air
Was this a dream?
Or was he really there?
Watching over me as I slept
As a loving father
Looks in upon his child
In a dream or perhaps reality
I was left with a blessing
As he made his presence known to me
