Drydocked-the Gray Fox

It's been far too long
of this I'm tired,
please take me from the shore.
The weather's good, my bottom's scrubbed,
you've fixed my broken door.

My paint is fine, it still does shine
what more could you request.
My deck looks smart, you've fixed my heart
I'm looking at my best.

Get your poles and pots
ties all your knots,
for ready you know I'll be.
it's up to you, don't mess with my screw!
just put my ass back in the sea.

For I love what we've found
right here in the sound
where the waters are cold and so blue,
and I'm longing to be, back out to sea
Cause I've got a job to do.

------- Author's Notes -------

I wrote this poem for my son who is in the Coast Guard in Sitka, Alaska. He had his boat "The GrayFox" out of the water...and I knew it was just crying to get back in..
