Our Daily Visitor

There's the cutest little bushy squirrel
Who lives near our house, somewhere.
He visits our patio every day
For the goodies we leave for him there.
We've had this visitor for many years,
But lately he's being quite brassy.
If he doesn't like what we have for him
He even gets quite sassy.
His food is served in a red plastic dish,
Right near our patio door.
If he likes the food we have for him,
Not a crumb is left on the floor.
When we see the dish tipped over,
We know what he's trying to say.
'How can you be so stingy?
You didn't feed me enough today.'
But when we can't even see the dish,
Until we step outside to check.
We usually find it in a corner
On the other side of the deck.
We think we know what he's trying to tell us,
Since this happens when we've been away.
'Hey, you guys. What's going on here?
You forgot to feed me today.
