Tattered Remnants
16 March, 2007
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
My Dearest Hannah,
Somethings happening
I'm not sure what
The building is shaking
We were told to leave;
but I fear I cannot
I'm way up high
on the 90th floor
I tried the stairs
The elevators are locked
But there's too much smoke,
that passage is blocked
I'm writing this quick
In case things get bad
And hope that you get it
And you won't be long sad
You've given me joy
since you have been my wife
I've never been happier
in any other time of my life
Tell the children I love them
and that I am proud
Of all their achievements
and even when they play too loud
I want you to remember
I'm always near
though you might no longer see me
my love will always adhere
I hate to say goodbye
but I gather I must
take care of your self darling
for this I do trust
You may never see this
If God is willing maybe you will
Remember I Love you..........
...
The message was never finished
but it was quite clear..
A poetic good-bye
by a man so sincere
...
When 911 happened and the buildings came crashing hard to the ground
some of the tattered paper remnants were found miles away
in the Carroll Garden neighborhood in Brooklyn NY
carried by the smoke filled wind.
This was not among them....
but the emotions were.

This was inspired by a song "Exhibit 13" by the Blue Man Group. |
