The Widow
23 March, 2007
Author: Cobygirl
She walks along the ocean's edge
Where foamy tide meets gritty sand
Time stands still
And she is alone
Abandoned by the earth which gave her life
Tears are no longer necessary
Her emotions spent, she has learned to accept her past
Innocence regarded with a wary, forlorn glance
Time is no longer of the essence
Because nothing matters now
Except what she has lost (which is everything)
Bare tree branches slowly sway
Back and forth, back and forth
Echoing the naked existence of her soul
If life is cruel, and time is the enemy,
Then why do we believe the lies
That love is fluent
And age is a feeling, not a number
She knows all too well the hardships of life
And the twisted mockery with which it regards humanity
Nothing is controllable by futile human hands
And everything is consequence
A product of generation and divinity
She no longer believes in false ideas
Society sells her on a daily basis
Ideas she used to adopt as her own
But no longer
With eyes wide open, she sees what society refuses to see
She sighs
And former footsteps fill with salty water
Erasing all evidence that she was ever there
As she vanishes into a welcoming, embracing mist
Without missing a beat, all continues like normal
And she is never missed

Tammy (64.57.160.163) -- Sunday, March 25 2007, 04:32 am I have to agree with Bipe, this is one great write, and I too was locked into the flow of it. Beautiful indeed. |
