Rules
4 April, 2007
Author: Barbara Goodhew
Rules seem unfair to some.
Rules at home.
Rules at school.
To some rules seem uncool.
Rules at a job.
Rules of the road.
Every where rules to behold.
Young people, don't realize
rules are to protect us from harm.
Curfews, drinking and driving, wearing safety glasses
safe sex, all these are to protect you and others.
I hope teenagers realize rules are made
because you are loved and are being protected.
------- Author's Notes -------
My 16 year old granddaughter ran away from home, because of the rules, that were made to keep her from getting in a situation where she might get hurt. |

Capricorn (82.46.181.105) -- Wednesday, April 4 2007, 08:44 pm I think all teenagers fight against rules -- they just don't realise until they're older how important they are. She will learn Barb! |
Catyrose (128.123.85.163) -- Wednesday, April 4 2007, 11:31 pm she will look back and realize she was loved and that's why the rules were in place. I know my girls eventually learned to follow the rules. But those teenage years were definitely tough ones. Hang in there, Barb. |
barb (67.58.200.145) -- Thursday, April 5 2007, 02:09 am Having people tell us that it;ll work out is what we need to hear. |
Terrie* (76.200.75.127) -- Thursday, April 5 2007, 10:33 pm i agree w/both ladies, one learns to appreciate and respect those rules more so when we become parents with no regrets, its a tough time MORE now than pioneer days for teens especially girls, sometimes teens have to face the consequences to clearly understand that rules are made through LOVE, inevitable..a tough call and a parents biggest nightmare of "WORRY" she will come around and begin to take notice , your a Good Lovin' Grandma Barb, we're with you in prayer for her Safety back home with her family |
barb (67.58.202.11) -- Friday, April 6 2007, 02:24 am thanks she is at a girlfriends house ,so she's eating and got a place to sleep and not on the streets. She knows she's welcomed here, but She hasn't called to talk or cry nothing, but that's ok as long as her parents know where she is. |
Xeracy (214.13.127.36) -- Sunday, April 29 2007, 12:08 pm I have to say that it may sound cliche, but they won't know what it's like until they have children. I lead both lives very well I believe. That is, being a rebel and a single parent. The reason that I broke the "rules" that I did, for the most part, was cause I really didn't understand the reason behind them. For the most part I felt/feel that I'm above many of them and the reasoning behind them is bull shit. Once I learned to tell the difference between the two types of rules I have been much better off and I don't just rebel to anything anymore. Thanks for the great read. |
