Pretty In Pink

Author: Nicole Ricketts
She sat down on the wood floor
To put on her dance shoes
She was ready to soar
And was hoping there would be no boos
She warmed up with the five positions
She admired her figure in the mirror
She was very proud of her transitions
She held up her head with no fear
She moved away from the bar
And performed some kicks
She began to leap, hoping to go far
But there was something she had to fix
She noticed her take off was all wrong
So she stretched some more
And put on her favorite song
Once more she leaped across the floor
But this time she did not make it to her toes
Instead she landed on her knee
How she fell nobody knows
Because nobody was there to see
She had so much to lose and nothing to gain
Her knee would never be the same
After that day, all she saw was rain
No more playing her favorite game
Would she get to dance once more
The doctor's were unsure
Her knee was still very soar
She did not know what she was waiting for
She needed to get back on the wood
And dance on her toes
She was gonna do whatever she could
to get rid of her woes
She got the chance to live her dream in the future
Dancing front and center at the Collesium
Her life was an adventure
Paintings of her beauty in an art muesem
Always follow your heart
And do not quit
Your dreams will always play a part
So step up to the plate and hit.
