To Patsy When I Was Young
(my first poem, 1963)
If I’ve not shown my love for you
In many days gone by,
Don’t think my love for you is dead -
No, Darling, it is I.
I dare not show my love to you,
For fear of losing yours...
(Dare I not show my love for you,
And still be sure of yours?)
I tried it once,- do you recall
The memory of it?
You turned me down, told me to go -
I nearly lost my wit.
We’re back together now,
My Dear...
It’s nearing of the time
When I would ask of you,
My Dear...
“My Love, will you be mine?”

Meri (98.166.166.133) -- Sunday, November 10 2013, 05:30 am I like your afterthought. Smiled when I read it. I can imagine the embarrassment, but the grade and the extra credit that came about as a result was worth it. |
