Everyone Is Lonely
21 May, 2007
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
A woman stands by watching her husband die
As her children surround her head hangs down
Everyone is lonely and needs love sometime
A soldier cries reading a letter from home
He wipes the tear that strays putting his letter away
Everyone is lonely and needs love sometimes
She tucks herself in bed and silent prayer is said
That "tomorrow will be the day he comes home to me"
Everyone is lonely and needs love sometimes
He comes in from school and there no one home
She bakes herself a birthday cake with one there to partake
She wakes from a bad dream, no one heard her cry
He closes his eyes knowing he's been living a lie
Everyone is lonely and needs love sometimes
Everyone is lonely and needs a love of some kind

Colin (69.157.6.7) -- Monday, April 6 2009, 06:39 am I brought one back to life and I'm glad I did ... what a lovely piece of writing! It reminds of a popular song lyric and that's high praise indeed! We've all been lonely at one time or another - and perhaps some of us still are - so your poem is a companion for those who need it! BRAVO! |
