'membering...
24 May, 2007
Author: Shiloh
mom's.....?
...nothin'.
got nothin' o' hers.
not even mem'ries.
she's gone,
but for all o' that,
got nothin' o' hers.
see, she di'n' have much,
an' whut she had,
once she'd gone,
my ol' man sold an' drank.
not even pictures...
or her bracelet,
cheap enough, I s'pect,
but she wore it alla time,
an' I 'member that,
an' it woulda been nice
to have at least that one thing
that was a part of her life,
and a small part of mine.
see, when you walk to town
an' you holdin' mama's han',
an' that bracelet is right at your
eye level, why,
you just naturally 'member that.
but he sold an' drank alla her things.
even her old clothes.
whoever got her bracelet
probably don' understand
the value of it at all...
probably been thrown out
long years ago,
to fill a small space
in a town dump somewhere.
but I guess I do got one mem'ry, after all.
hell of a thing, ain' it?
hardly 'member her face features
any more,
but I 'member that bracelet.
for what it's worth,
there's that.
but she meant well.
I truly believe that.
