Nokomis

Author: Ing Twi Demalah
as the summer wind who
waiting anxiously for the dawn
seeks to carry again the robin’s song
and the frog who misses the lily
who cannot pull himself away
from the comfort of her beauty
or the daisy who longs for the honey bee
to return again the her fragrant petals
and the whale who swims to the shore
knowing not where or why he goes
save only for the longing in his heart
which both aches deeply
and yet causes him still to sing
as the star misses the sun
ever before her, ever after her
and yet never embracing each other’s light
the way a lonely wolf
bays sorrowfully at the moon
desiring always to touch her
yet she is far from his reach
how the caged bird loves flight
the memory of which
is ever before its eyes
and in its dreams
soars gently a top the clouds
even as the desert loves the rain
so much so as to drink completely her waters
comforted for a time by the caress of her droplets
and, when she has gone
crying out for her once more
its dry face cracked with pain of loss
and the gentle monarch
who lights upon his honey wings
that he may at last find his love
so do I miss also my love
and long for sweet sound of her voice
my love, I cannot take my eyes from her
nor can I pull myself from her embrace
and my heart sings at loves sweet ache
for her to return again to me
that I may hold her once more
and drink deeply of her love
and feel the caress of her skin
and when gone from me
the image of her face comes to me
when at last my eyes close
and though missing her
yet my heart takes flight
that I have at last found my love
Nokomis, Nokomis
come to me soon
Nokomis, Nokomis

Ing Twi Demalah (159.105.102.7) -- Friday, June 15 2007, 07:44 pm I was not sure that the imagery would show clearly the longing and love I wanted to convey. But it would seem it did indeed do just that. Thank you again for not only reading, but feeling the words I write. You are always an encouragement. Thank you again. Ing |
