Springbrook Mountain
27 June, 2007
Author: Francis Duggan
It's nice up at the top of Springbrook mountain
In the shade of the tall rainforest trees
No traffic noise the mountain air is cooler
And there's a freshness in the evening breeze.
The pademelons hopping through the clearing
In many places these marsupials rare
Though on Springbrook mountain they seem quite abundant
Small families of them scattered here and there.
Some people have this idea about Queensland
Of white beaches and sunny coastal Town
Where people swim and surf in the warm waters
From endless months of sunshine bronzed and brown.
But Queensland has it's green and higher places
Where peace and quiet and beauty can be found
Scarce touched by man where wildlife is abundant
Rainforest hills and green valleys all around
And such a place is Springbrook mountain forest
In the cool shade of the rainforest trees
Pademelons in the open hop towards cover
And birds are singing in the evening breeze.
