Distortions
8 July, 2007
Author: Pondering Red
Heat so bad -
the waves eminate
from the asphalt.
Sizzling city heat -
bacon and eggs heat.
Distortions - mirages -
appear in this wavy heat,
like the magic mirrors in the
amusement park.
Are my thoughts and
perceptions of you not real?
Has time distorted
the memory of
the love we had and
the episodes that followed ?
Do I still love you
after all these years ?
The pavement is like hot tar.
Beads of sweat slide
from my forehead.
Are you relaxed and cool
in Kulu ?
Meditating -
eating the good vegan food ?
Breathing in
the good mountain air ?
Worlds apart -
in experience -
in memory -
in time -
My first real love -
or was it a distortion ??
So long ago -
So far away -
The memories crumble like old paper
and disintegrate.
The heat of our passion was sizzling.
The love was real -
or was it a mirage - an illusion ?
Now, nestled in your hidden valley,
do you ever hear
my whispers
across the mountains ??
