An Open Letter To The One.
4 August, 2007
Author: Dennis
It seems I can not say all that I feel.
I hear your crying deep inside.
My selfishness precludes a truly platonic relationship.
It always seems to come down to what 'I' want.
I want you to feel what I feel.
I want you to see what I see.
I want to take away your pain.
I want to ease the hurt.
I want to hold you and feel you hugging back.
I want you to need me.
I want to be able to see a future where 'you and I' are replaced by 'we'.
I want to share the pain and the Ecstasy.
Mostly, I want you to realize that you are worthy of adoration.
Any man would be a fool not to want you.
Any man would be a fool to let you go.
I am not any man.
'Whatever it takes' is the popular phrase.
That is what I am prepared to do.
If I had it in my power to roll back the clock,
to change history for you, that I would do.
If I had it in my power to rewrite your story,
I would write myself into all the chapters.
I would make certain there would be no reason to build barriers.
I would try everyday to make you happy, because, to see you happy, makes me content.
Yes, promises are only words, but if intent could play a part,my promises to you would be forever binding.
I am yours, to do with as you please.
A serf, a slave, a partner, a friend.
