Shadow Forms
13 August, 2007
Author: Pondering Red
I walk the little dog -
early evening.
I am a shadow
on the low lying leaves.
My arms stretch long
and my legs longer
as I blend with
the leaves and pretty wild weeds.
I am abstract thought and abstract form,
walking along -
in the extreme heat.
My shadow lies over the lush
entangled wildness of grasses.
The shadow of the dog follows,
runs quickly over the
tall uncut grass.
The shadow knows
many things -
darting and dodging
lightness and deep shade.
The shadow is not judged
for her financial status -
nor her looks -
nor the way she carrys herself.
Her political,
religious and spiritual
views and opinions
graze over the little island of green.
The shadow self holds much
compassion -
has ideas for solutions
to community problems -
and beyond -
In this large city,
my shadow intertwines with
countless other shadow forms -
blending and meeting
and overlapping on the city streets.
Each shadow
contains much -
Each person so much more.
Yet often we do not see -
sometimes we do
at a superficial level -
or for some kind of gain -
some kind of purpose -
sometimes greedy, sometimes good
and empathetic.
As I wander
with my shadow beside me,
glowing golden
in the approaching sunset hours,
I aim to jump out
of the shade, the shadows,
and be real and true
to my self,
outer, inner, and deeper
than what I am aware of -
and perhaps others
will do the same,
soon,
someday,
and those who have
and have become tired,
perhaps they will
reappear and merge their wisdom,
their
knowledge,
their unique personalities
with the energys of the city and those
who live and wander in it.
I walk up the stairs now -
brilliant sunset sky
is blasting
gold sparkles and messages
and covers the shadows....
