Date With The Sandman
6 September, 2007
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
I used to close my eyes
and fall right to sleep
Now it's a glass of wine
before the Sandman I meet
Has he lost his glimmer
to which my closed eyes were enticed
Or just too much to think about
or just an excuse for a new vice
So once again I head for bed
with my eyes slightly glazed
Assurance for a nights sleep
a rest, fit to be praised
I'd wait up for you Sandman
but tonight I'm too tired
My mind now is fuzzy
and to myself first I abide
So now I lay me down to sleep
seeking the dreams for real life escape
As I nod off to another place
the Sandman will come and a new day will take shape
