Staring Back Is Me

Author: Devilyangelic
She gazes back at me,
the pain she shields so easy to see.
I want to reach out,
but her mind's full of doubt.
She looks just like me,
maybe when I was 23?
Lines on her face from the pain,
a weatherworn heart she thought could stand the rain.
Her smile seems lost as she gazes at the floor,
I remember that feeling just wanting to feel adored?
But alone she sits just glancing at me,
if only I could make her see?
Crossing her arms to lock anyone out,
she doesn't stamp her feet nor scream or shout.
Numb she cowers from their evil tongue,
all energy drained from her but still she wants to run.
Run to where I want to say,
but words betray me and I turn to walk away.
Our eyes meet and I sit back down,
simultaneously it's like we share a frown.
Looking at her she seems so cold,
why oh why can't I just hold?
As sad as she is it's simple you see,
for that lonely girl STARING BACK IS ME!!!
