I would like to blame it on the fact

I've been working and blah blah blah
but to tell you the truth,
It seems that I'm on that thin line
where we all sit at the most
One moment, walking and talking

The next, merely a memory.
People are coming and going.
Some we are bonding with,
and others go floating

without us even knowing their name
We don't have to know a name any longer
there's a piece of plastic for that
Please sir, may I see ID

Hey, take from it, and use it
'T' Tracy said "thanks"
what did she give, more than paper
"Goodbye name, have a good day"

We do better by knowing their name
"Hey Tracy good day," it will be
When you walk in the 'ghetto'
and find, you've smiled and so has she

do you look like a target?
maybe. but smiles have let that move on
a grin, a hello
what about if ya share a smile.
what are they gonna do.

As Jo said "if they smile, they're mine"
that works as a business prospect.
Can't it work the other way as well?
Why be afraid of the situation...
grin and bear it, and smile it through.

For in ourselves, we find ourselves.
You're in there somewhere, I know
one piece of you cries for you
and another says 'let's go'
WHOA} truth
horrible, man don't we know
