The Price Of Independence
18 October, 2007
Author: Willahh
You expected more of me than
I did you
I expected nothing other than what
you expected of me
You never clearly understood
why I hid upon my rock
by the stream in the woods
Yet I did the best I could
ever since the day we met
There was nothing I could
possibly do
I certainly never wholly
comprehended you, but I
did decide to follow you
and you God
Then on Independence Day
the fog lifted and I was able
to really see the you I never
knew
You do not need a woman to look
out for you
You are able to take care of
yourself and I am able to
deal with the punches you dealt
I will survive because
I can see myself clearly now
I have healed from
the inside out and all the
innocent angels in
heaven shout because I
have made it this far
just by wishing on my
lucky star
I praise my
belief in my own understanding
You were just too demanding
