Chance Ruined
16 October, 2007
Author: Maitree Muzumdar
There she stood, a metre away,
Her blond hair blowing, merry and gay
She wore a dress, blued, matching her eyes
I stood there glued, dreaming our ties
We were in a field, full of trees-
I wanted to her seize, but my hands were full of grease
She was rich and I the opposite
And my house was just a ditch, for us unfit
I looked at her just a dare
Suddenly she saw me, she looked so fair
She came to me, and sat beside me
“What are you doing? I'm Lee”
I knew it was a dream, which would end in a second
By the sun’s gleam, I do recon
But my yield, thoughts away
As the blond sealed, I say
She didn’t give a chance,
Only a glance
On next opportunity-
I’ll take her to France!
