Alone In The Rain
29 November, 2007
Author: Shiloh
Standing on the corner, in the rain,
I don't want to move on,
don't care if I'm getting soaked,
'cause like the rain running tracks down the windows
of the cars at the curb,
my tears are running tracks down my cheeks.
You couldn't tell them from the rain
unless you were to kiss them away...
I don't have to worry about that,
'cause you're no longer here,
even though I'll always carry you with me
in my mind, in my memories...
You'll never know how I'm crying tonight,
because I turn my face to the skies,
and my tears are hidden from the world
in the raindrops as they fall.
Even the streetlight doesn't show the difference
between my tears and the tears from the clouds.
The thunder helps hide my anguished sobs
as they are torn from my aching heart,
the wind snatching them from my lips,
chasing them down the street in gusts...
From a distance
my shaking, heaving shoulders
only look like I am shivering
in the cold, dark and windy rain...
To see the pain I am in
you would have to stand next to me,
but thankfully I am alone in the rain.

Bipedalguy (75.67.182.104) -- Monday, December 3 2007, 03:56 am It's a beautiful poem, but very sad. I can imagine myself in that picture. Once I was standing at a curb in the rain when an old bagman said to me, "What's wrong, you look like you just lost your last friend in the world". I didn't realize my loneliness was so visible. I was actually a little shocked. |
shiloh (66.24.112.118) -- Tuesday, December 4 2007, 06:08 am something along the lines of... "hearts broken will stay with us forever, but oh, what beautiful poems those heartbreaks will make..." - wish i could find the original quote. |
Nikki (Zacks friend) we've met (69.205.236.156) -- Thursday, January 10 2008, 10:00 pm This reminds me of when my marriage ended. So much pain and nowhere to put it and no one takes notice.I'm so sorry that anyone has to feel this. Thank you for writing the words that my brain refused to give voice to. |
