Burning Embers Fly
27 February, 2003
Author: Dino Hi
The burning embers flying into the night sky
Beautiful, matching the stars, as I lie
Some not going so high, as their light goes out
Others floating way up high, their light drifting about
Eventually slowly cooling, fading out and drifting in the wind
Like our lives, some living so long, and others snuff before they can begin
Our heartaches of past, like the cooling embers
Have had their time, smoldering to ashes, of remembers
Feels so good, to lie by the heat of this fire
A peaceful night, watching burning embers fly, before I must retire

Martin Vann (63.208.43.132) -- Tuesday, March 4 2003, 08:07 pm Your sensitive words, described a picture in my mind. I saw someone, much older than you, sittin by a fire, perhaps, two hundred years ago. Through this person's eyes I saw, love that was lost, love that was saved, even, a baby that did not survive. Will the crops be good this year, will there be enough rain. This you gave to me, a brake from my Hi-Tech life. Wish I was able to discuss with that person, more about their life, memories, expections that were felt by this person by the fire. Dino, you made fire and embers, usually, a dangerous thing, more like a friend, this fire you saw, you made it burn with tenderness and memories. Thanks Dino, MartinV P.S. I know this was a long way off from your back yard, but thanks, I enjoyed the trip. |
Dino (67.27.41.63) -- Wednesday, March 5 2003, 08:29 am You certainly have a way with words. Very impressive. We need to take a break once in awhile, glad you did, and enjoyed the trip. My break is over now, I'm back to work pouring concrete everyday. See you all when I get back. I'll drop in once in awhile to see how you are all doing. Bye for now! Thanks! |
