Neighbor At The Fence
11 April, 2008
Author: Dennis R
He was the neighbor across the fence,
The friendliest man you might meet.
His conversation was light hearted,
I’m glad he lived on our street.
We’d visit sometimes for an hour,
I never heard him complain.
He enjoyed his time in the yard,
No matter if sunshine or rain.
He had problems like we all do
But his smile was always stronger.
He refreshed me like the springtime,
I wish I’d known him longer.
------- Author's Notes -------
A friend and neighbor died recently. I attended his funeral and had these thoughts. |
