A Single Rose
12 May, 2008
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
Sitting alone amongst her pets and things
Tired and lonely she ponders
Is this the life she chose
Is she the person she thought she would become
Her family raised and married on their own
Her husband working every night
Her job is thankless, verbal abuses everyday
She wonders if it is worth it
A single rose presented by an online friend
Brought a single tear to her eye
Reminded of how it should be
She brushes the thoughts away
It's just another day, not a day of importance anyway
But just the same, it would have been nice
To hear a Happy Mother's Day
To receive a single rose from those she loves
Sitting alone amongst her pets and things
Tired and lonely she ponders
Is this the life she chose
Yes, this is the person she allowed herself to become
------- Author's Notes -------
A single rose does not cost too much.. But sometimes the lack of one costs more.. |
