Chasing Memories
17 May, 2008
Author: Shiloh
when i'm alone with my thoughts
and the house is silent
my mind goes a-wandering
down old pathways
past vacant lots and buildings
over roads once traveled long ago
with no particular place in mind
and no deadline to adhere to
and no reason for the journey
but to remember
and perhaps to experience
once again
those things that I left somewhere long ago
everyone should have their quiet time
and quiet place
to chase old dreams and memories
through the attic of the mind
but don't expect to capture any of them
because that would take all the fun away
and there would be no reason to return again
to the places where you can smile
and sometimes where you can cry
but that you don't ever want to forget
so if it looks like you actually might capture
one of those old thoughts or dreams
just slow down a bit and let it go
let it escape you
and let it be there for you again later
