Uncomfortably Numb

In seeking closure it appears one shuts down
A defense mechanism of sorts
Going through the motions
Of each new day
Feelings denied or held at bay
Others tightly sealed or locked away

Encased in a casket of numbness
A frozen heart or so it would appear
Is simply a disguise
Behind which she hides

At times the body betrays the heart
And seeks to find release
There is no where to run or hide
From this all consuming grief

A delayed reaction or so it would seem
From years of suppressing emotions
Panic takes over at times
At the least opportune moments

In time this shall pass
When the heart begins to thaw
The tears will then flow like a waterfall
Rushing over both heart and soul
True healing will take place in his time, not time
This I have come to know

Paralyzed Heart

Caty, This is sooo sad, a moment of silence when we are exposed to the bad curves of life. Truth is, you have captured the emotions of a Paralyzed Heart, in your portrait of words. That many have experienced in some period of their life. And yes, true Healin' takes place in his time, not ours... He lifts us and carries us, as he walks us through it.
Thank you for the emotions shared and the strength re-gained.
Beautifully written!
