Life Patterns
28 May, 2008
Author: Catyrose
With needle and thread she holds the quilt blocks in her hand
Stitching them together with the utmost care
Rearranging the pieces into a brand new pattern
Constructing a new life plan
Some scraps of fabric are set aside
Not quite sure if they will fit in this vision of a new life
Pondering over which materials to use
Careful in selecting which colors to choose
Bolts of fabric, cloth, and thread
Serve a purpose, help to clear one’s head
Solid colored hearts placed with care, symbolize fond memories once shared
Others raggedy and a bit frayed
Serve as reminders of a heart gone astray
Flowers appliquéd here and there
Seem to chase away all cares
Pastel colors offer the comfort she seeks
Brightening up a world that once was bleak
With each row completed
New insights are revealed
Stitch by stitch, block by block
Easing back in the old rocking chair
Examining her life patterns with great care
She’ll see this project through to the end
Until the colors are in harmony and all do blend
A new pattern, a new design created with her best interests in mind
Slowly the answers she seeks, she will find
As the ends of the material she does carefully bind
