Thoughts On Religion
12 June, 2008
Author: Hazzard
You've placed me on this rock full of sin
And said "Now let your test begin".
Right or wrong the choice was mine.
It would seal my fate for all of time.
I can see the fault within this plan.
It all comes down to the race of man.
They say there's a book to help me walk,
But to me that book speaks double talk.
It says don't do this, then do the same,
With no clear rules to play this game.
So this is what I'm going to do,
Because I've read your book through and through.
I'll roll the dice and spin the wheel,
And play whatever cards you deal.
I will live my life with truth and love,
To gain my access up above.
And when I fall, I'll dust myself off.
Proudly knowing all's not lost.
Because every person trips and falls,
Even those that have heard your "call".
And in the end we should not be scared,
Because your rules are truly fair.
------- Author's Notes -------
I wrote this poem to try and sort out my feelings on God and religion and I came to this end: Whatever is out there loves everyone but has to let us choose our way. We can make mistakes and not be judged but forgiven. Finally, men judge us and that is why we must each find what "God" means to us. But that is my humble opinion. |

Bipedalguy (65.96.237.196) -- Saturday, June 14 2008, 05:47 pm To me, this is a truly thoughtful write on a subject that's often difficult to communicate. I think you were successful. The poetic technique is also very good. I think deleting the word "full" from the first line would improve the cadence. Great write, Bipe |
